Club Dirt began on a typical Saturday night. Injured Lock Haven University senior
Jeffrey Skwierz (aka Dirt) was hanging out with friends and the team name Club Dirt came to mind. Skwierz always thought
about forming a track club in Lock Haven, but figured it would not be possible as most of his teammates were bound to go pro
and get picked up by Nike or Asics or New Balance. However, after that injury from Run for the Diamonds on Thanksgiving,
Dirt went on to run a new PR in the 3000 of 8:53 while training and racing injured. However the injury progressed and
Skwierz was forced to take some time off. An academic situation also contributed to ending Skwierz' collegiate career
prematurely just as it was reaching its peak. That is the motivation behind this club, whether it is just Dirt or if
others decide to join. We know that we are not talented enough to run professionally but the passion and desire is still
there. The sooner Skwierz heals up and gets rid of the limp, the sooner Club Dirt will be at a track near you racing
some of the Northeast's best. Insprired by the famous running site Lets Run.com, Dirt strives to make his dream a reality.
Club Dirt is here for now, and now we must enjoy!
