Records and Great Performances Continue. Slotterback impresses, while Skwierz looks to become one of his area's finest.

Nick Slotterback and Jacob Merrill set Club Dirt records in recent track & field competition. Merrill set a club record in the triple jump, while Slotterback bettered his javelin mark.

On the distance side of things, at the Brookville Two Day Tango. The team featuring Club Dirt members Rick Clendaniel Jr. and Jeffrey Skwierz as well as LHUers Mike Reichard and Mike Bullers took 3rd place after having a solid day, but losing a few hours in the orienteering stage. Clendaniel ran 2:25 for the lead challenging and hilly 22 mile leg just missing the course record. Skwierz ran an 11 minute course record on the final leg, measuring out at around 10 1/2 miles, covering the distance in a little over 62 minutes.
However after a tempo run last week, Skwierz experienced some swelling in his knee and was forced to take a few days off to recover and is now experiencing some shin pains. However he is still training and plans to race in Saturday's First Annual Valley Great 8. In his preparation, he went out and ran the course at 9 pm in the dark and since part of it is on a golf course, wound up taking a wrong turn down a cart path and got lost. However, he knows the last 2 miles of the course well, and even did some speed stuff towards the finish. I think he's feeling it.
